My daughter (2) absolutely loves this! We filled it with small gravel instead of sand so she wouldn’t track sand in to the house - works great, and she uses beach toys in there. I gave 5 stars for sturdiness because the canopy supports are stable even when she grabs on to them, and the roof has withstood heavy wind and rain (although it will pool rainwater in each section - not hard to empty back out, just push up from underneath). I gave 3 stars for durability because a few of the long planks have split, but so far have not broken. We’ve had this outside in heat, cold, snow and rain (7 months). Perhaps a replacement piece could be purchased - I haven’t checked, since it’s still doing okay. No other complaints. It’s been a lot of fun!It is cedar (it is light you can move it around easily before filling with sand) and you can smell the wood the second it comes out of the box. Everything was easy to assemble except putting the snaps on the "walls"-The instructions say where to place the snaps but measuring it out in advance is a waste of time. It's better to place the two outside snaps. Then try to hang the panel see if it matches up before putting in the screws and work your way in. Use the actual placement of snaps to put in the matching other half of the snap. But it was not onerous and the panels are cut the right length. So it looks nice.-One of the panels you screw in two screws which does prevent it from flying away but you can't batten down the hatches if there is high wind. It's ok so far but high winds have yanked off a panel 2x now even though we roll them up before a storm. There have not been any very severe storms since we put up the sandbox.-I have bought Gorilla weatherproof clear stain for the wood to apply 90 days out. But the company said Thompson's is also great.-I have Starbrite waterproofing for the fabric and I should have applied it right away because the light fabric stains quickly . I think some of the stain from the wood stained a bit during a storm. But all of the panels can be removed for washing even the one that is screwed in. I wasn't sure if there was a urethane backing but it is just polyester canvas fabric. The Starbrite waterproofing product says it's not appropriate if there is any urethane backing. There isn't.-Finally after much much research I bought 300 lbs of Sandtastik. There is a 100 lb limit on amazon. I got the rest from Sandtastik they had a promotional offer. Anyways this is plenty. What I am not happy about is the lack of a cover. Like I said with wind you need to roll up the sides or they get thrashed around. I have spent additional to buy a tarp, velcro, nylon thread, heavy duty sewing needles and a grommet kit. It might be possible to use plywood but once assembled it is an unwieldy shape. So I also got gorilla waterproof patch and seal tape, so that maybe the plywood can bend in the middle. But then you might want to leave a pail in the middle of the sandbox so it doesn't cave in the middle with the weight of rainwater. We are still working out the cover. Meantime we have an old (flexible) tarp and some stones to cover the sand at night.Other things we learned....don't overly wet all the sand at once if you plan to cover it - read about how to avoid mold. Cinnamon does seem to be keeping bugs out.My baby loves the new sandbox. It is pretty spacious compared with all the other options. It is super cute and provides protection from the sun. I love how each panel can be rolled up. And I especially like that it has a roof. The one in front is a large mesh panel. There is a mesh window on each side and the back is just a panel but it can be rolled up.We have it on our stone patio. There is a thick plastic liner with large irrigation holes. You use plastic screws to secure it.I bought this sandbox a little over a year ago and it's great! My daughter plays in it practically every single day, and it's been wonderful for her. The size is great, the water buckets and toy bins are super useful, and the cover is perfect to keep the sand in and the animals out. Installs easily, it took way more sand than I realized, I bought 18 50-pound bags and I used at least 12.The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the wood has cracked quite a bit. Not to the point where it's falling apart or anything, but the posts that hold up the canopy have cracks running up them, and the bottom of the toy boxes splintered. Luckily I figured that one out the hard way, not my little girl, and it was an easy fix with a couple of inches of sand on the bottom of each toy box.Overall, we love this sandbox, would definitely buy it again if we ever move! It's a really cute sandbox, ants are really attracted to it for some reason. The top doesn't fit snug so when it rains it pools into two of the corners which now have mold, even after emptying the water right away. Otherwise it's amazingSo my husband put it together in about 2 hrs. With help it would have been faster. I painted it to help with weathering. My daughter loves it. The wood is actually really light. It's not heavy to lift once it's put together. I could lift it by myself except for it being bulky. I love everything about. It's a great purchase. ?Good thing hubby is a mechanic unless there’s a YouTube video because if I put it together it would’ve taken me forever. Other than that the realistic expectation I have for this is to last for maybe 2 yrs since it’s outside weathered. Had it since April 2022 and so far it’s good. Just buy the sand at Home Depot much cheaper.I don’t know if they just don’t come with instructions but would have been easier to have them in the box. I got online and was able to get instructions that way.Great for kids 7 and under especially when you live away from hawaii it’s a little taste of home. Honestly you could build one up yourself using your own wood but my husband went out if his way to buy it so there’s nothing I could’ve doneThis product cut is it good quality and was delivered in good time during the COVID-19 pandemic. The instructions were difficult to follow and the build was a 2-man job. Having no base will not protect sand. Also there is a net to cover sand- this Will not protect sand from bad weather or animals. For the price of this item I would expect a base and lid!!!The sandbox itself is great and my kids love it. The canopy however is not so great: It is not tight and cannot be tightened so it collects water when it rains. I am considering taking it off and sawing off the poles, except that my kids love to hang off the poles while admiring their work. The purchase includes a mesh to cover the sand when the sandbox is not in use. This is incredibly clever as the mesh does not allow insects to gather underneath like a tarp or other solid cover would. The sandbox comes with a plastic liner for the sand (with small drain holes), which works well and makes sand management easy (especially nice since the sandbox will need recoating now and then to prolong its life, see below). The wood treatment is good but not great; I expect the sandbox to require regular maintenance to last longer than 2-3 years. The wood is softer than usual which means that the nuts will not hold very well. In fact I sat on the side of the sandbox and that immediately resulted in a nut being pulled off.Note that the sandbox is large and deep so you need lots of sand to fill it. I put in 10 bags worth of sand (that's 200 kg!), which is enough but the sandbox would easily accommodate more.In all, a good product for the price. Most importantly, my kids recommend it. :-)The unit is well built except the sides only seal at the top with snaps. All along the sides, there is nothing to secure the sides, sealing off the inside. Doesn't make much sense to not provide a means for the sides to seal all the way around. I bought this to keep flying insects and cats out of the sand box. Doesn't work though with unfastened sides. Have to devise a method to seal up now. Ugh.The wood used isn't very strong or well treated, and after only one season my sand box looks very weathered. The mesh cover it comes with is only useful to put on top of an actual tarp and hold the tarp down. Otherwise, all the elements, insects, etc get into the sand box.I removed the canopy for the winter as it's quite easy to take on and off; however, it doesn't clean very well.Fácil de armar, tamaño ideal para dos pequeños, más de dos pequeños no pueden jugar agusto. El plástico que trae para poner debajo de la arena es algo delgado.En general buen producto, a mis hijos les encanto!
